During a drive, Audra Petraškienė and her daughter, Andra Petraškienė, stumbled upon a drenched and shivering dog. On closer examination, their hearts sank.
It was apparent that someone had made a horrifying attempt to drown this innocent dog by affixing a substantial metal box around his neck, functioning as an improvised anchor designed to submerge him in the river.
The dog’s condition testified to the extent of his ordeal. Trembling and fearful, his resilience may have spared him from a near-death experience, but Audra was well aware that the emotional scars would likely linger.
Bringing the dog home, the Petraškienės removed the anchor and promptly sought veterinary care. Fortunately, aside from the stress induced by the abuse, the vet affirmed that the dog was in good health.
Filled with anger, Audra tried to reach out to the dog’s owner and shared the dog’s story on Facebook. Eventually, she connected with an individual claiming to be the owner.
According to the supposed owner, the dog had been stolen, and the perpetrator had attempted to drown him using the anchor. Despite this revelation, Audra reported the incident to the police to ensure the owner’s innocence in the crime.
As the investigation unraveled, it became clear that the dog and his owner were victims of a revenge scheme, orchestrated by the owner’s neighbor, who had kidnapped and attempted to drown the defenseless dog.
