During a drive, Audra Petraškienė and her daughter, Andra Petraškienė, stumbled upon a soaked and shivering dog. Upon closer examination, their hearts sank.
It was evident that someone had made a cruel attempt to drown this innocent dog by attaching a sizable metal box around its neck, essentially using it as an impromptu anchor with the intention of submerging the dog in the river.
The dog’s condition bore witness to the severity of the ordeal. Trembling and frightened, the dog’s resilience may have spared it from a near-death experience, but Audra knew that the emotional scars would likely persist.
Taking the dog home, the Petraškienės removed the anchor and promptly sought veterinary care. Thankfully, aside from the stress resulting from the abuse, the vet confirmed that the dog was in good health.
Filled with outrage, Audra tried to contact the dog’s owner and shared the dog’s story on Facebook. Eventually, she connected with someone who claimed to be the owner.
According to the alleged owner, the dog had been stolen, and the culprit had tried to drown him using the anchor. Despite this information, Audra alerted the police to ensure the owner’s innocence in the crime.
As the investigation unfolded, it became clear that the dog and its owner were victims of a revenge scheme, orchestrated by the owner’s neighbor, who had abducted and attempted to drown the defenseless dog.
