A call was received by Sher Polvinale, the director and founder of House with a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary, concerning a mother dog and her two sons. Typically, such calls involved people giving up their pets to the shelter, but this particular call was destined to be life-changing for this canine family.
The family comprised Bella, a 15-year-old mother, along with her 13-year-old sons, Ciroc and Hudson. They were surrendered to the shelter by the owner’s sister after his passing.
The woman who surrendered them was saddened to part with them, as she had initially intended to care for them. However, they didn’t get along with her other dogs, and her husband’s health issues necessitated a move. In light of these circumstances, Sher assured the woman that she would do everything in her power to find a better situation for the dogs, even though the shelter was already at capacity.
She requested the woman to provide her with basic information and photos of the dogs, enabling her to reach out to other rescue organizations for assistance. To her astonishment, she learned that an appointment had been scheduled to euthanize all three Chihuahuas on that very day. Sher immediately began persuading the woman to surrender the dogs to House with a Heart and cancel the appointment.
Fortunately, the woman acquiesced, and all three dogs were relocated to the sanctuary. Sher explained that these dogs would receive the utmost care at the shelter until they found their forever homes. The sanctuary relies on donations to ensure the well-being of all its residents, so those interested in contributing can visit their website.
