According to the AKC, Golden Retrievers rank as one of the most beloved dog breeds, and it’s not hard to see why. They are not only incredibly cuddly and charming but also make wonderful companions and the perfect furry friends.
Brooke Nicole had her heart set on owning one of these magnificent dogs, having adored the breed for six long years. She tirelessly pleaded with her boyfriend to join her in bringing a dog into their lives, explaining, “My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years. And throughout those years, I’ve BEGGED him to get us a dog together. He didn’t understand how much I was willing to give to have a dog, now he totally does.”
After much persuasion, her boyfriend finally relented, and together they made the decision to welcome a puppy into their lives. Brooke, overwhelmed with joy, began her quest to find the perfect puppy, saying, “FINALLY fall 2019 my boyfriend agreed that we can get one. I literally cried tears of joy. I’ve ALWAYS wanted a golden, so I began my search.”
After several months of searching, just in time for Christmas, Brooke discovered a breeder with golden retriever puppies available. When the day arrived to select their new furry family member, Brooke was at work, so she entrusted her boyfriend, Josh, with the responsibility of choosing the perfect puppy. She advised him to trust his instincts and pick the one that felt right. As it turns out, he made an excellent choice.
Their Christmas gift came in the form of a delightful puppy they named Banks. Brooke instantly fell in love with the little guy and was delighted with her boyfriend’s selection. Fate smiled upon them because they acquired Banks just before the pandemic, which soon brought everything to a standstill. Brooke found herself with ample time at home, providing the ideal opportunity for bonding and training with her new puppy.
Brooke shared, “During his prime puppy stages, we were all quarantined due to COVID, so I had just been furloughed from my job. I was high-key so happy to spend even more time with Banks.” During this period, she made the most of the opportunity to bond with Banks, teaching him numerous tricks, enjoying his company, and being charmed by his overwhelming cuteness.
“This meant more time for training, too! We worked on his tricks, his manners, and lots and lots of playtime and love! I don’t know what I would have done without Banks during quarantine/COVID craziness. He DEFINITELY kept me busy. Fun fact, he is bell trained! Whenever he has to go potty, he will ring the bell to let me know he’s gotta go!”
