The sight of little Tesoro, soaked and caked in thick mud, discarded like refuse, tugged at our heartstrings. A kind-hearted woman who stumbled upon him noticed movement in a discarded trash bag and to our astonishment, we discovered a puppy inside. While we remained clueless about the whereabouts of his mother and siblings, we were resolute in our determination to rescue this fragile life.
Tesoro is now safe under the care of Maria’s shelter, where he is receiving the urgent attention he desperately needs. We managed to wash away the mud from his tiny body, but he remained in a fragile state. The veterinarian found that Tesoro’s right ear flap was missing, and dirt had penetrated his ear, posing a potential risk of infection to his brain. Consequently, he had to be placed in a special room for the next 48 hours, where he was closely monitored.
At just a week and a half old, Tesoro is merely a baby. Given his small size and delicate condition, there were limited treatment options, but he valiantly fought a severe bacterial infection. Unfortunately, his right eye had sustained significant damage and had to be surgically removed. His left eye remained unharmed and was under vigilant observation.
After 48 hours, signs of improvement in Tesoro became evident. The dirt was successfully removed, and fortunately, there were no lasting injuries to the young pup. His eye socket also showed positive recovery, and by the end of 72 hours, he was able to muster some strength, sleep peacefully, and witness his wounds begin to heal.
Though there’s still a long road ahead, Tesoro is no longer in critical danger. We are steadfast in our commitment to stand by his side throughout this journey of recovery. While the path may be arduous, we are determined to provide him with a fresh, love-filled life.
This experience serves as a poignant reminder of the significance of showing compassion and kindness to animals in need. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of Tesoro’s remarkable journey and are confident that he will bring boundless joy and happiness to whoever is fortunate enough to adopt him in the future.
