Upon losing their dog, the nuns belonging to the Our Lady of Christian Doctrine community made the decision to pay a visit to their local animal shelter. Their intent was to provide a home to a dog that, they were aware, faced slim chances of adoption.

During their visit, they crossed paths with a 9-year-old Pit Bull named Remy. Remy had spent several months at the Hi Tor Animal Care Center, and her prospects for adoption were far from promising.

Sister Veronica Medez conveyed to the media, “I deliberately sought out a dog that nobody else had an interest in. I wished to offer a home to a dog who might face euthanasia if we didn’t step in. When I noticed the tag indicating she was ‘nine years old,’ I turned to Virginia and said, ‘We want this one because there’s unlikely to be anyone else interested.'”

Remy was welcomed into their home, and she instantly brought warmth and joy with her affectionate personality. Sister Virginia Johnson described Remy by saying, “She’s a senior dog, and we are seniors ourselves. She is a gentle and friendly companion.”
