Sanford was once referred to as a “broken dog” with sorrowful grins until he met his foster mother, Karen Velazquez, who rescued him and gave him a chance at a better life. The poor dog couldn’t stop smiling when he realized that he was safe and had been rescued.
Animal control rescued Sanford in April after he was hit by a car and left unable to walk, with a gunshot wound in his right hind leg. They quickly brought him to a small, municipal shelter in Dallas, Texas, but the shelter lacked resources, so Sanford did not receive the necessary medical attention. He was both physically and mentally traumatized.
Thankfully, a volunteer from Dallas DogRRR, a local dog rescue organization, saved Sanford from the shelter. But the greatest change in Sanford’s life occurred when he was placed into Velazquez’s care.

Sanford is now waiting for someone who will give him a forever home and love him unconditionally. His positive spirit and joyful nature make him a special dog that will bring happiness to any household.
