In recent days, a set of heartwarming photographs depicting a dog enthusiastically trailing a group of patrolling soldiers has taken the internet by storm. This occurrence has ignited a worldwide sensation, captivating audiences in countries such as Korea, Japan, Thailand, and even Vietnam.
People from all corners of the globe are captivated by the touching narrative concealed behind this adorable moment.
Some individuals have theorized that this dog may be a stray, driven by an inexplicable urge to follow the passing army as if on a mission.
However, as reported by Los Tiempos, these photographs were serendipitously captured by photographer Luis Fernando Chumacero on the streets of Tupiza, Bolivia, during the quarantine days amid the pandemic. The soldiers in the vehicle were conducting patrols to ensure strict adherence to quarantine regulations.
What makes this heartwarming tale even more touching is the revelation that the fawn-colored dog featured in the images is not a wandering street dog but rather a cherished companion residing in the military barracks, affectionately known as Gorda. Colonel Luis Pacheco, Director of Army Logistics IV, explained, “Every regiment adopts dogs, and they coexist with the soldiers, sharing meals and even participating in training.”
When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, Gorda, upon witnessing the soldiers diligently patrolling to combat the virus, made the decision to join them. Observing their devoted companion’s eagerness to accompany them, the soldiers in the vehicle decided to welcome Gorda aboard, inadvertently giving rise to this heartwarming moment, beautifully captured through the lens of the photographer.
As Gorda enthusiastically jumped into the vehicle, another gray dog named Multicam eagerly rushed to join the adventure. Multicam also holds the esteemed position of being the beloved mascot of another division.
