A canine found itself rescued from a tricky predicament thanks to the application of “abundant olive oil and considerable patience.”
Emergency teams from Mareeba Fire and Rescue in Queensland, along with a local veterinarian and a veterinary nurse from Sundance Veterinary Services, were summoned to a location just west of Cairns earlier this week. Their mission: to rescue Bonnie, who was trapped inside a tire.
Mareeba Fire & Rescue, in collaboration with Sundance Veterinary Services, successfully liberated Bonnie the dog after she got her head stuck in the center of a wheel rim earlier this week.
The pooch had somehow stuck her head in a wheel rim’s small, round centre bore.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services shared a tongue-in-cheek social media post, joking that the extraction was a challenging endeavor.
“Mareeba Fire and Rescue teamed up with Sundance Veterinary Services to rescue little Bonnie when she was discovered feeling a bit deflated with her head trapped in the middle of a wheel rim.”
“The teams employed ample amounts of olive oil and patience during the rescue operation. Fortunately, Bonnie is reportedly on the road to recovery.”
Images of the crew, veterinary professionals, and Bonnie’s owner depict a sheepish Bonnie, seemingly embarrassed, following her ordeal.
As expected, the online post about the incident gained widespread attention, with plenty of praise showered upon the rural firefighters.
